Col. Carl Lavan Womack, age 55, passed away in Dover, Arkansas, August 5, 1998.
Carl was born September 10, 1942 in Casa, Arkansas, a son of Olga and Mary Ann Hill Womack. He married Karen Sue Lawrence, June 17, 1967 in Francesville, Indiana.He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He flew 100 missions in the F-105 during the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the 419th Fighter Wing from 1973-1992. He was Air Crew Program manager with the FAA.
Surviving are his wife, Karen, Layton; two daughters, Michelle (Warren) Little, Sandy, Utah; Shannon Womack, Bountiful; two grandchildren, Davis and Jordan; also surviving are three sisters, Jewell Wright, Thelma Burke, Inez McCoy. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Austin and Alton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 1998 at the Lindquist Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., where family and friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be Thursday at the Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Military Honors will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Hill Air Force Base Museum.
