Twentieth Television canceled Magic Johnson's late-night syndicated talk show, eight weeks after the former Los Angeles Lakers star debuted.

The last original episode of "The Magic Hour" was broadcast Thursday night, and reruns will be shown for the next four weeks, Twentieth Television said.Rick Jacobson, president of Twentieth Television, which produced and distributed the show, said nationwide networks were going to move the show to a later time slot, prompting the cancellation.

"Knowing that later in the schedule it was harder to get ratings, and ratings generate revenue, as much as the show was getting better, we had to make a difficult decision," Jacobson said.
