There'll be no beer at the clubhouse to celebrate Matthew Stuart's first hole-in-one. Maybe a little milk, or he can skip nap-time.
Matthew is 5 years old.The boy, playing for only his fifth time, aced the 86-yard, par-3 seventh hole at Fox Ridge Country Club on Monday, using his driver from the women's tee.
"He hit a nice, arching shot. It wasn't a line drive or anything," said his father, Troy Stuart of Washington, Ind. "His ball hit the front of the green, bounced once and rolled right into the cup.
"I fell down laughing. I couldn't believe it."
Golf Digest magazine said it was unaware of anyone recording a hole-in-one at a more tender age - 5 years, 3 months. The previous record holder was 6 years, 1 month.
"I've been playing golf for 15 years, and Matthew has been playing for about three months and he's already got an ace," the elder Stuart said. "I'm probably prouder than he is. It's already worn off for him. He's out riding his bicycle now."
