Bernice Ann Davis (nee Schaffer) born February 7, 1913 to George and Mary Schaffer in Columbia, Illinois, died August 6, 1998 at Crosslands Health Care Center in Sandy, Utah.
A devoted wife and mother, she exemplified grace and dignity throughout her life and an unfailing commitment to God and family. An eternal optimist and caretaker of the earth, she never lost sight of her hopes and dreams for, first, her children and, secondly, her country. Her legacy is an indomitable will in the face of adversity and teaching us by her example all the blessings brought forth were through unconditional love.Originally from the midwest, she lived most of her life in the Southeast, first in Cartersville, and then Augusta, Georgia.
Her husband, Walter "Jack" Davis of Ft. Scott, Kansas; and six brothers and two sisters, precedes Bernice in death. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Frances, from Draper, Utah; four grandchildren, Aaron Todd Wehunt, of Augusta, Georgia; George Mattison Wehunt, Melissa Ann Wehunt, and John Ross Wehunt, of Draper, Utah; three great-grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; and much loved son and grand-daughter in-laws, Allen C. Wehunt, of Midvale; and Pam Wehunt, of Augusta, Georgia.
A prayer service was held Thursday night at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State St., Midvale. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, in Cartersville, Georgia.
