Beverlee Ann Washburn Mathis, age 69, passed away on August 5, 1998.

She was born on August 10, 1928 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Jesse Nile and Violet Hillas Washburn. She married Henry George Mathis, II, on May 8, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Bev was our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who recently celebrated her 50th Wedding Anniversay. She lived most of her adult life in the Salt Lake City area until her retirement 13 years ago, at which time, she and her husband, Hank, became full-time "RV'ers", for several years basing their residence first in Yarnell, Arizona and later in Ivins, Utah, where they have resided for the past 10 years.

Always energetic, thoughtful and unselfish toward others, she cared for her fellow man and dearly loved her family, spending as much time as she could taking trips and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Having suffered poor health for the past several years, she managed the best she could to carry on, seldom complaining, always considering others before herself. She loved her husband deeply and the bond they shared was very special. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. "She was our Sunshine."

She is survived by her husband, Henry George Mathis, II, "Hank" of Ivins; two sons, Wesley L. (Vicki G.) Mathis, of Sandy, UT; and Randy L. Mathis, of Price, UT; seven grandchildren: Jared, Jenny, Jessi, Brooke, Tiffany, Chanda, and Cassie; one great-granddaughter, McKaylee; one brother, Van H. (Marilyn) Washburn, currently serving LDS Mission in American Samoa; one sister, Nilene Ryan, of Tucson, AZ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert S. (Roma) Mathis, of Brigham City, UT; Jane Johnson (Calvin) Jewkes, of Ivins; Agnes (Lafe) Brown, of Salt Lake City; Dr. William E. (Ann) Mathis, of Sandy; John S. (Pat) Mathis, of Salt Lake City; Frank D. (Marie) Mathis, of Santa Clara; Dr. Owen Shupe, of Mesa, AZ. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Lois Ann Shupe.
