Kendra and Maliyah Herrin on Tuesday were able to take the first liquids they've had since they were separated a week ago Monday by surgeons at Primary Children's Medical Center. Maliyah was able to suck on a popsicle, and Kendra had a few sips of water.
The twins, 4, are the daughters of Jake and Erin Herrin of North Salt Lake.
The surgeons had to divide the intestines and liver the duo shared. Kendra received the sole kidney they had shared and Maliyah is now on dialysis. They remain in serious condition but are steadily growing stronger and more alert, according to hospital spokeswoman Laura Winder.
