Firing a gun, except at an approved gun range, will no longer be allowed in city limits.

The City Council approved an ordinance change Tuesday that would prohibit shooting a gun anywhere in the limits. The prior ordinance, though still quite restrictive, had some allowances that were put in place when Centerville had a more rural atmosphere. To help educate the public, the city will place signs in the foothills east of Centerville. That area receives the most gun action.
