If Kofi Annan ever wants to quit as U.N. Secretary-General, he knows just the man to take over: Sir Peter Ustinov.
"His qualifications are simply unbeatable," Annan said Tuesday at a U.N. luncheon honoring the British character actor for serving 30 years as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF."He speaks French, German, English, Italian, Russian, Spanish and even some Turkish and Greek," Annan said. "Even the languages he does not actually speak, he can imitate so well that it sounds uncannily as if he is speaking them."
And if that wouldn't be enough to fill Ustinov's day, Annan had more work in mind for Ustinov.
"He could easily double as permanent representative of all the member states," he said.
