Prosecutors have charged a man with four counts of first-degree sexual assault after a house was broken into and the woman living there was attacked.

The victim allegedly met the 52-year-old defendant, described in court papers as a transient, on July 28 and took him to her home near 400 South and University Street (1340-1325 East) where she agreed to let him store some belongings. She then dropped him off at his friend's home.According to charges filed in 3rd District Court, the defendant broke into the home later that night, attacked and fondled the victim and attempted to rape her. The defendant also threatened to shoot the woman and "bury her out in the back," the charges state.

The man is also charged with first-degree felony aggravated burglary and third-degree felony witness tampering. He is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail on $100,000 bail.
