Wendell Peter "Pete" Nuffer, 74, died August 4, 1998 in Richfield, Utah.
He was born March 17, 1924 in Logan, Utah to Louis Ferninand and Ruby May Jensen Nuffer. He married Elsie Carol Ogden, May 21, 1948 in the Manti LDS Temple.Pete graduated from high school in Caldwell, Idaho. He is a veteran of World War II having served as a Naval Aviator. He received a B.S. degree in Geology from Portland State. He served as president of the Oregon Nurseryman Association.
He was employed by Carl Zeiss Inc, a German Optical company. He began his career as sales agent in Corvallis, OR, and retired as president of Carl Zeiss Canada in Toronto.
He was an active member of the LDS Church where he served as a Bishop, on the High Council and Stake Clerk. He and his wife served a mission to the Washington D.C. Temple. He loved working in the temple and was a Sealer. His great joy was wandering through the back roads of Utah and hiking mountain trails with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Richfield; son, David Ogden (Lori) Nuffer, St. George; daughter, Mary Ann Wilson, McCall, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, LaRee Lyman, Applegate, CA; brothers, Donald L. Nuffer, Molalla, OR and J. Stanley Nuffer, Troutdale, OR.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 7, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Richfield 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery, with Military Rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050.
