Gordon Stanley Oles, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, bishop, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 3, 1998, surrounded by his loved ones. He returned to the waiting arms of his Heavenly-Father; his parents; his brothers, Kenneth, and Orland; and his sisters, Gladys, and Dorothy.
He was born on November 24, 1929 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, to Minnie Ellen Lickers and Matthew Allen Oles. He married Hazel Davis, his "Honey Beep" on November 26, 1949, later solemnized in the LDS Logan Temple surrounded by his family. He was an active member of the LDS Church where he served faithfully in many callings; teacher, stake missionary, home teacher, bishopric counselor, and bishop. He was highly dedicated, respected, and loved as Bishop of the Salt Lake Lamanite Ward for many years. He was proud of his large family and has blessed us with many fond memories. He enjoyed family cookouts, camping, fishing, backyard bonfires, story-telling and singing to his family. His wealth came not from money, but the love that we all shared. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; their 11 children, Linda (Allen), Gordon (Bonnie), Barbara, Cathy (Greg), Debbie (Jay), Patti (Terry), David (Shannon), Janice, Becky (Patrick), Kristi (Don), and Susie (Rick); 38 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his brothers, Donald and Harold; and his sister, Beatrice.
