Walter Dale Brown, 81, surrounded by four generations of family, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 1998.

He was born January 30, 1917, in Wellsville, Utah, to John Arnold Brown and Caroline Jones Brown. He married Doris Mae Cox, December 13, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served an LDS mission in New Zealand under Elder Matthew Cowley from 1938 to 1940 and returned home to serve honorably in World War II from 1942-1946. He then completed his education at LDS Business College and used his training to become a gifted manager of many businesses throughout Utah and Idaho, and a master salesman, for which he received many recognitions and awards. His greatest success, however, was reserved for his retirement years during which he displayed a remarkable talent for "grandfathering." He is dearly loved by his 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and their parents. His gentleness and kindness will be greatly missed.Walt is survived by Doris; and his six children, Richard G. (Linda), Dorene (Kurt) Larsen, W. Craig (Diane), Karen (Thomas J.) Needs, Nancy (Scott L.) Hansen, and Mary Jo "Jodi" (Lorin) Rix; sisters, Sarah (John Henry) Smith, and Louise (Thomas) Huntamer. Preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Arnold J. Brown, and Marion Brown.

The family expresses sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Veterans Medical Center for excellent care, generously given.

Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, August 7, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where family and friends may call from 10:30-11:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
