Our loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mary Virginia Lloyd Slater, 77, will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She died August 2, 1998, at Alta View Hospital after a long-time pulmonary disease.
She was born August 1, 1921, in Riverton, Utah, to Freeman Roland and Christina I. Andersen Lloyd. Married Al Tennant Slater on December 31, 1942. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She was an active member of the Mt. Jordan LDS 3rd Ward, where she had served in many organizations including Primary president. Mary was a very talented seamstress, loved traveling, and the great outdoors. Her family was her greatest joy.
Survived by her husband, Al of Sandy; children, Bruce and Mary Jane of Stafford, VA; Dale W. and Cindy of Sandy; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; brothers, Kenneth R. Lloyd of Sandy, C. Jesse Lloyd of Midvale, and Glenn Lloyd of Murray. Preceded in death by daughter Linda Closterman, and sisters Dorothy Nellen, and Berdella Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at ll a.m at the Mt. Jordan 3rd Ward, 8950 South 400 East. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, and on Wednesday, one hour prior at the church. Interment in the Sandy Cemetery.
