Retired motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel needs a liver transplant but is even more concerned about others like him who have less time, so he uses public appearances around the country to urge people to sign organ donor cards.

"I'm with a group called Life List, all waiting for livers," Knievel, 59, said Friday at the Three Rivers Regatta in Pittsburgh, where he was master of ceremonies. "There are people with us who'll die in another five, six, seven days. I'd rather they got a liver than I did. I'm feeling better actually."He blamed his failing liver on cirrhosis, along with hepatitis C possibly contracted from one of the many blood transfusions he got after spectacular crashes on the daredevil circuit in the 1960s and '70s.
