The National Hurricane Center and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are using the Internet to provide the status of hurricanes to the public."The whole thing is an informed public. They're getting a direct report," Bob Shapiro of FEMA's hurricane liaison team said Friday. "This is kind of personal. I think it's great."
During hurricane watches and warnings, a 60- to 90-second video clip of a hurricane-center official explaining storm conditions will appear on the site.
