The South Salt Lake Police Department invites the public to attend its annual Community Night Party, Monday, Aug. 3, from 5 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Paracelceus Health Campus, 2500 S. State.

The free party is a warmup for National Night Out Against Crime, which is slated for communities across the country Aug. 4, South Salt Lake Police Capt. Beau Babka said.South Salt Lake started holding the Monday night pre-party four years ago as a means of thanking citizen volunteers who organize crime prevention efforts like Neighborhood Watch. The party was so popular it has grown in size and scope each year, Babka said.

The party is open to everybody - regardless of residency in South Salt Lake - and will feature free food, games and prizes, music, crime prevention information and health information. The police and fire departments will display their equipment and give demonstrations. Helicopter rides will also be available, Babka said.
