The 1998 edition of the Tooele County Fair will offer the usual fair fare: Down-home entertainment, activities for kids, exhibitions, competitions, special events and family-style fun.

A three-day celebration of Tooele County lifestyle and culture, the fair will get under way 6 p.m. Thursday in the city-county complex near 400 West and 400 North in Tooele.In addition, there will be livestock shows events daily through Saturday at the new Deseret Peak Recreation Complex and a demolition derby Saturday at 5 p.m.

Fairgoers will hit the grounds humming at the city-county complex Thursday with an Elvis Impersonator/Celebrity Look Alike Contest at 7:45 p.m. and the finals in the Karaoke Contest at 8:30 p.m.

Friday's events will include an unusual pet contest at 10 a.m., the World Birds of Prey High-Speed Falcon and Hawk show at 2 p.m. and evening concerts featuring Rick Trevino, the Donny Rhea Band and the Donner Party - a group specializing in "Rockabilly funk Grass" music.

Fare for Saturday will include the annual talent show at 11 a.m., a dog show and another Birds of Prey show at 2 p.m., dance groups and evening performances by the Colombian Neck Tie Band and the bluegrass sounds of Fire on the Mountain.

There also will be pony rides and a carnival daily, equestrian events and livestock judging.
