Richard (Dick) James Ashby, died peacefully after a lingering illness, in Cottonwood Hospital on July 28, 1998.

Dick was born on Sept. 10, 1922 in Burley Idaho, to William Earl and Norien Evangeline Jarvis Ashby. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from the Air Force Reserve. He married Klea Cook in the Idaho Falls Temple. Dick worked for the American Telephone and Telegraph company for forty years residing in Kansas City and Sunnyvale, California. Dick was a High Priest in the LDS church having served in multiple callings throughout his life. His favorite calling was that of home teacher.Dick is survived by his loving wife, Klea Cook Ashby; sons, Richard David (Shelley), of Philadelphia PA; and James Christian, of Salt Lake City, UT; brothers, William Earl Jr., Alton Jarvis, Grant Victor, Dean Hal, and Wayne Ellis; sisters, Norien Olson, Dorothy Pugh, Lenett Cash; granddaughter, Kailee Ashby. Dick was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Wilkes.

Friends may call Friday July 31, from 6-8 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary 2460 E. Bengal Blvd (7600 S). Another viewing will be held one hour before the funeral at the church.

The funeral will be held Sat. Aug. 1st 12 noon at the Cottonwood Heights 5th Ward 2522 E. 6710 S. Interment at Holladay Memorial Park.
