Want a new spin on the traditional hamburger?

The Heinz Consumer Test Kitchens in Pittsburgh cooked up more than 25 city-specific hamburger recipes, incorporating regional eating preferences. The results include specialties like the Boston Back Bay Burger, decked out with whole cranberry sauce, and the San Francisco Golden Gate Burger, which calls for feta cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.

There's also a Pittsburgh special, the Golden Triangle with french fries and cole slaw.

You get the idea.

Representing the largest hamburger-and-ketchup-eating crowd in the country - kids, that is - Justin Miller, 8, of Pittsburgh collaborated with the test kitchen team. Justin is the author of "Cooking With Justin," published last year.

Here is a selection of hamburger city-variation recipes, each making 4 servings.

The regional hamburger recipes are from Heinz Ketchup. The complete series has been printed on a waterproof place mat that may be obtained free by writing to: Mine's Gotta Have Heinz, P.O. Box 57, Pittsburgh, PA 15230-0057.
