A stubborn barn fire kept firefighters busy Saturday afternoon.
The barn, 10817 S. 1055 West, was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived about 2:05 p.m. Fire investigators believe the barn, owned by Gary and Verlene Palmer, was struck by lightning.About 30 firefighters from South Jordan, West Jordan, Sandy and Salt Lake County fought the blaze for more than two hours. A tractor and 15 tons of hay inside the barn were destroyed. Four pigs were also inside the barn. Three were rescued, but one died.
