WOMEN'S TRACK: All-Americans Tiffany Lott, Amy Palmer and Elizabeth Jackson were among 17 members of BYU's women's track team who spent two weeks competing in international track meets in Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
During the two-week tour, Lott won several meets in the hurdles, Palmer took shot put titles and Jackson won in the 1500 meter races. Other Cougar athletes also received high marks in the hammer, and distance races.
"It was one of the greatest experiences we've had as a team. It was fun, educational and spiritually uplifting," said head coach Craig Poole.
As part of the two-week tour, several athletes spoke and performed in a Sunday evening LDS fireside in Stockholm to about 100 youth members who spoke English.
Tiffany Lott will be in Montreal, Canada , July 30 and 31 representing the USA in the USA vs Canada combined events meet. This meet brings the top Canadian National Team members against the top USA team members. The United States team members come from athletes who competed at this year's National Track Championships. Four senior women heptathletes and four junior heptathletes from both countries will compete in this annual event.
Lott qualified by placing third at the USA National Championships.
At this year's Goodwill Games in New York City, Amy Palmer finished third in the hammer with a 217-7 throw.
