Snake charmers have been called in to help find 20 newly born pythons who slipped out of a zoo in the northern town of Rangpur, the zoo manager said Saturday.
Residents reportedly panicked after authorities at the zoo announced that the reptiles had been missing from their iron cage since July 16 when they were a week old.Two of them were found Thursday near a rain-swollen pond three blocks from the zoo in Rangpur, 155 miles north of Dhaka.
At least six snake charmers were helping zoo workers find the rest.
Baby pythons are not dangerous until they are a month old and open their eyes. At that age they can swallow small animals and babies. The missing pythons are already more than two weeks old.
