Frustrated with lawmakers playing hooky from parliamentary sessions, the ruling Democrat party will begin treating coalition members like children by restricting bathroom and lunch breaks.

The chairman of the party's parliamentary coordinating committee said each lawmaker would be allowed to go to the bathroom for no more than five minutes at a time and would have to take turns going for meals, according to today's The Nation newspaper.Democrats who repeatedly miss meetings will be reported to party leaders so they can be reprimanded, said Charoen Kanth-awong, the chairman.

As a last resort, the party will refuse to endorse chronic offenders during the next election.
