I would like to comment on a letter from Calvin Rampton (Forum, July 15) stating that the interests of Utah are not being addressed because there are no Democrats in the House of Representatives from Utah and that the interests of Utah are being ignored. Mr. Rampton subtly suggested that Lily Eskelsen, a Democrat, would be a logical replacement for Merrill Cook, a Republican incumbent.

I wonder if the reason for no Democratic representation in the House or Senate is that the people of Utah do not believe in the tax-and-spend policy of the Democratic Party.Robert D. Benson
