A defendant in an alleged suicide bombing plot against the city's subway system admitted in court that he wanted to kill as many Jews as possible.

Gazi Ibrahim Abu Mezer, one of two Palestinians on trial in the case, also testified in federal court Monday that he had failed in a plan to kill President Clinton two years ago in Seattle.Abu Mezer was not asked to elaborate on the second plan and said nothing more about it. Law enforcement sources told Newsday that they had checked Abu Mezer's movements, and that his statement about the president was false.

Abu Mezer and co-defendant Lafi Khalil were arrested a year ago, just hours before a purported suicide attack planned for a busy subway station. They are charged with conspiracy to use and carry a weapon of mass destruction, which carries a penalty of up to life in prison.
