Howard Lars Peterson, 75, former Salina resident, died July 19, in St. George.

Born June 30, 1923 in Salina, Utah, a son of Lars Peter and Lydia Fenn Peterson. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was an excellent example of love, compassion and understanding for everyone. Retired from IML Trucking in 1977. He is a Veteran of World War II. He married Vauna Wood Street, June 30, 1970 in Elko, Nevada.He is survived by his beloved wife, Vauna; his second mom, Norma Freeman, both of St.George; children, Karla and Jerry Potter; Vaughn and Roxanne Street; Wayland and Teresa Peterson; Dan Street; Linda and Terry Campos and Diane Peterson; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Blair and Irene Peterson; Vivian Williams; Verda Beach; Norma and Art Robinson; Naoma Rasmussen; Wallace and Janell Peterson and Harold Freeman. Preceded in death by Faye Lipsey and Miles Peterson.

With special thanks to all their wonderful friends. They helped Dad and Mom so much in their time of need. We will be forever grateful for their loving care.

Friends may call at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Thursday Morning 10:30 to 11:30 with graveside service at 12 Noon in the Salina Eastside Cemetery. Military rites by the Salina American Legion Post 36.
