Vern Omery Hansen, 80, died July 15, 1998, in Gunnison, Utah.

He was born May 18, 1918, in Elsinore, Utah, to Norman LaVelle and Ruby Larsen Hansen. He married Wacel Gleave, March 12, 1938, in Junction, Utah. The marriage was solemnized June 9, 1990, in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death October 27, 1996. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Philippines.

Vern and Wacel began their life in Elsinore, then moved to Riverside, California in 1957. Vern later accepted a job transfer to Modesto, CA, and then upon retirement, they moved home to Elsinore in 1979.

He is survived by two sons, Gary L. and wife Valena Hansen of Salem, Utah; and Vern Michael and wife Sandy Hansen of Farmington, Utah; son-in-law, Wendell Ray Morse of Hyde Park, Utah; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Clark (Mary) Hansen of St. George, Gwen (Joe) Geis and Jeannine (Richard) Stewart, both of Salt Lake City.

Preceded in death by parents, wife, daughter Lee Ann Hansen Morse, brother Chad Hansen, sister Wanna Hoyle.

Funeral services Saturday, July 25, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the Elsinore Ward Chapel, Elsinore, Utah. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Elsinore on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be with military rites by the Elsinore American Legion Post #75 in the Elsinore Cemetery.
