Don Knotts received a special honor Monday, a day shy of his 74th birthday.

Knotts, best known for his portrayal of bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," will have a street named after him in his hometown of Morgantown, W.Va. South University Avenue will be known as Don Knotts Boulevard."I'm a little shy about it," Knotts told The Dominion Post. "I didn't expect something like this to happen. It was very nice of them."

Monongalia County Commission President John Pyles started the campaign to change the road's name after seeing reruns of "The Andy Griffith Show."

Knotts, who acting stints also included the sitcom "Three's Company," said his best-known role is his favorite.

"I don't think there's any question I enjoyed doing `The Andy Griffith Show' the most," he said.
