The inside-outside combination of Tracy Reid and Tora Suber helped the Charlotte Sting extend their winning streak to five games with an 86-56 victory over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.

Reid hit her first seven field-goal attempts and wound up with 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting. She added eight rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Sting improved their lead in the Eastern Conference to 41/2 games.Suber made four of seven attempts from 3-point range and finished with a career-high 14 points, helping Charlotte to its largest-ever margin of victory.

The expansion Mystics, losing for the ninth time in as many road games this season, played without Nikki McCray, the WNBA's No. 4 scorer. McCray, who returned to Washington to get treatment on her sore right knee, was listed as probable for Sunday's game against Utah.

COMETS 74, SPARKS 68: At Inglewood, Calif., Cynthia Cooper scored 24 points as Houston extended its WNBA-record winning streak to 10 games.

Cooper shot just 5-for-18 from the field but hit all 12 of her free throws. Sheryl Swoopes added 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
