Lorna L. Simonsen Van Ausdal, age 63, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 16, 1998.

She was born July 17, 1935 in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Rodney M. and Dorothy Packard Simonsen. She married Alton L. Van Ausdal on June 4, 1954 in Chevy Chase, MD. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Lorna was reared and educated in Oregon, and graduated in 1954 from Cleveland High School in Portland. She traveled extensively with her husband, who was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, living in Arizona, Utah and France. She was active in the LDS church, serving in the Sunday School, Relief Society, Young Womens, and Primary. She had been a hospital volunteer for over 40 years and enjoyed and taught Tole painting classes.

Surviving are her husband, Van, Kaysville; two sons and two daughters, Kevin D. (Barbara) Van Ausdal, Centerville; Randy L. Van Ausdal, Bountiful; L. Denise (Roger) Purdy, Peachtree City, GA; Trina Van Ausdal, Salt Lake City; and 10 grandchildren; also surviving is her father, Rodney M. Simonsen, Layton; a brother, Rodney J. Simonsen, Austin, TX; and two sisters, Linda Lysne, Spokane, WA; and Tina Ogden, Orange, CA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Packard Simonsen.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville 12th LDS Ward, 1039 E. Crestwood Road. Friends and family may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, and at the church on Tuesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service.
