Greatly loved husband, father and grandfather, Daniel R. (Danny) Parris, 61, passed away July 15, 1998.

Born August 16, 1936, Gastonia, North Carolina to Annie Mae Bethune and Orien R. Parris. Married Carol Mannix on June 8, 1956. Solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 8, 1957.Retired as Vice President of Dans Food after 42 years of service and as a lobbyist for Utah Food Industry Association. Presently employed with Cannon Mortuary. Active member of the LDS church, served as Bishop's counselor, Bishop of Butler 13th Ward and of the Brighton 9th Ward, High Counselor and presently served as Counselor in the Salt Lake Brighton Stake Presidency, and Temple Worker.

Served on board and as Chairman of URGA, Board of Utah Food Bank and District Chairman Boy Scouts of America, Wood Badge Staff. Avid U of U football and basketball fan. Served in the Army Reserves.

Survived by wife; daughters, Dana (Keith) Wilson; Sandra (Reynold) Rice; Patricia (Derek) Emery; Shawna (Richard) Jensen; and Lisa (Tracy) Childress; grandchildren: Emily, Megan, Lindsie, Tyler, Jacob Wilson; RJ, Joey, Whitney and Jordyn Rice; Jackson, Alex, Annie and Nicholas Emery; Samantha, Amanda, Parris and Andrew Jensen; and Bayley Childress, sisters, Eva Hagman; Jean Smith; and Jane Smith; and extended family and many friends, especially the Island Park Crew. Preceded in death by mother; father; and brother, Allen Parris.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 20, 1998, 12 noon at the Salt Lake Brighton Stake Center, 3001 E. Creek Road (8000 South). Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South). Sunday July 19, 1998 from 5-7 p.m. and from 10:45-11:45 a.m. the day of the service at the church. Interment Wasatch Lawn.
