John Henschke, 87, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away July 16, 1998.
Born July 29, 1910 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bernhardt John Fredrick and Emilie Marie Noack Henschke. He married Ruth Sonja Nelson, his companion of 65 years, in Tooele, Utah, January 13, 1934. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple March 18, 1965. John worked for Salt Lake Cabinet and Fixture Company for over 40 years. Upon retiring, he owned and operated Raindrop Cabinet and Fixture Company. He loved working on his farm and caring for his animals. A member of the National Guard, 125th Field Artillery, he also had a long and active career in Scouting. He was an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, District Scout Chairman of the Mt. Jordan LDS Stake and earned Scouting's Silver Bee Award. John was a member of the Local Carpenter's Union #184 for 58 years. An active member of the LDS Church, he served as a Sunday School Teacher, was a High Priest, stake missionary for the Jefferson Ward in Salt Lake, and served as Executive Secretary for the Sandy Utah West Stake.Survivors: wife, Ruth, Sandy; daughters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Jenson (Burdett), Draper; Joanne E. "Pete", Sandy; Renee R. "Dut" Brown (Richard), Midvale; Susan Kaye "Susie" Bishop, Portland, Oregon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a grandson, Robert; three sisters, Elsie, Freida and Elizabeth; one brother, Bernhardt.
Funeral service will be held Monday, July 20, 1998, at 10 a.m. in the Fairoaks LDS Ward Chapel 586 East 8400 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church one half hour prior to service. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
The family thanks the nurses and staff on the third floor ICU and TCU, and Dr. Charles Haws for their loving and professional care.
