A 19-month old Ogden boy was in "very critical" condition Wednesday morning after being struck by a van Tuesday evening.

The boy, Nathaniel Mansfield, was in front of the family home, 1871 Eccles Ave., Ogden, about 7 p.m. while his mother and a friend were talking, said Ogden Police Lt. Clark Combe. When the friend attempted to leave, the boy apparently ran in front of the van and was hit, Combe said.He was taken by ambulance to McKay-Dee Hospital and was subsequently taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children's Medical Center, where he remains in the pediatric intensive care unit with head injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.
