My sweetheart, my love, my best friend of 61 years, Thomas Erin Collings returned home July 14, 1998.
He was born March 17, 1914 in Pleasant Green, Utah to Thomas William and Martha Dorothy Wolstenholme Collings. He was raised after his mother's death by his father and step mother Hortence Holton Collings. He married Laurel Bridges June 28, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS church where he held many positions including Bishop of the Magna 1st Ward, Clerk for two Stake Presidents, Stake High Council, and as a Salt Lake Temple Ordinance Worker for 11 years. He retired from Kennecott Copper after 36 years of service. Aftr his retirement he golfed, bowled, fished, and traveled with his wife. He enjoyed his grandchildren and loved to play with all of them.His pleasant disposition and love for everyone has made him a friend to all who have come to know him.
Survived by his wife; children, Gary (Madeline), Pauline (George) Rushton, Rod (Kathy), and Gayle (Joe) Milius; brothers and sisters, Dan, Fred, Bill, Dorothy Newman, Perry, Richard, Ruth Robinette, Glen, Arlene Hunsaker, and Lynn; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Lester.
Funeral service will be held Saturday July 18, 1998 12 noon at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West, where friends may call both Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 11-11:45 a.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: Peel Funeral Home.
