People who attend or work at the University of Utah are being asked not to drive vehicles on the sidewalk.
What to most people would be a no-brainer is now part of university policy. The U. Board of Trustees approved the policy change Monday. Penalties range from citations to vehicle impounds."Naturally, we're interested in promoting safety for faculty and students as they walk around campus," said Arnold "Arnie" Combe, interim vice president for administrative services.
The prohibition does not apply to motorized wheelchairs or scooters used by people with disabilities.
Emergency, law enforcement and university-owned utility vehicles also are exempt.
