Applications are being taken until July 22 for a vacant seat on the Alpine City Council created when Larry Brown tendered his resignation.

Brown resigned last month after accepting a job offer in San Jose, Calif. Brown said it was a "great disappointment" he was not able to finish his four-year term on the governing panel of the growing Utah County city known for its historic appeal and surrounded by affluent subdivisions.City officials expect to select a new council member - the second to be appointed this year - during their July 28 meeting.
