Donald Bird Fitch passed away July 8, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born March 15, 1923 in Fillmore, Utah, to Claude Waters and Rebecca Ann Bird Fitch. Don grew up in Delta and spent his high school years in Salt Lake City. He married Betty Lou Eileen Owsley on June 5, 1947 in Salt Lake City, she preceded him in death January 21, 1980. He married Jenna Vee Lundahl Soeffker on August 22, 1980 in Salt Lake City, she preceded him in death June 10, 1997.He was a member of the Navy League (past President of local chapter), Elks Club, Masons, Shriners, American Legion, Footprinters, Kiwanis Club and also a supporter and member of the RNC. He served in the Navy in Wold War II on the USS Boise, 1941-1946. He fought the Axis Powers in Europe and the Pacific.
He was a partner and manager of the United Fence Company for 42 years. He coached and sponsored Little League and Babe Ruth Teams. He loved hunting, fishing and boating. He loved his country and was truly a great patriot.
Survived by Mark (Cande) Fitch, Kaysville; Brad (Melanie) Fitch, Sandy; Craig (Andrea) Fitch, Salt Lake City; Blair (Jamie) Fitch, Fruit Heights; Tom (Toni) Soeffker, Salt Lake City; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Don left many friends including his partner, Dale M. Larsen and his "sixth" son, Gary Egan (Carol). He was preceded in death by sister, Maxine Sampson, brothers, Joe and Harold.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East, where friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
