Documents relating to the case of six Iraqis ordered deported from the United States were wrongly withheld from the men's defense lawyers by the government, a Justice Department spokesman said Saturday.

"We admitted that there was at least 80 percent (of the documents were) either over-classified or erroneously classified and that we would correct this," spokesman John Russell said.Russell said several members of Congress requested information about the case, and Attorney General Janet Reno ordered a review of materials pertaining to the Iraqis, who participated in a failed CIA-backed attempt to overthrow Iraq's president, Saddam Hussein. The documents had been classified by both the FBI and the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
