Nick Faldo's elbow injury has improved and he is confident of playing the British Open at Royal Birkdale next week.

The three-time British Open champion withdrew from the Loch Lomond tournament Wednesday after sustaining the injury to his right elbow in practice.The injury was diagnosed as "golfer's elbow" and threatened his chances of playing the British Open - an event he has not missed since his debut in 1976 - which starts Thursday.

However, he has been receiving extensive physiotherapy treatment from the European tour's medical team and has recovered enough to start practicing again.

"I feel 75 percent better," he said Saturday. "The inflammation has gone down considerably.
