Due to a change in the national tour scheduling, "Show Boat," which was to play Aug. 4-23 at the Capitol Theatre, has been postponed until mid-June of 2000.
According to Terence Womble, a representative of Toronto-based Livent, Inc., one of the production's two U.S. touring companies is being closed, which meant rescheduling of several theaters' dates."The company now playing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., was the one which was to travel to Salt Lake City next month, but this company is being closed," Womble said.
June 16-July 2, 2000, was the most opportune time for "Show Boat" to be rescheduled here. One consideration was not booking it too close to another large-scale production. Shifting it into next year, as part of the Theater League of Utah's 1998-99 season, would place it within a few weeks of the return of "The Phantom of the Opera."
The new dates will be part of TLU's 1999-2000 season.
Those who have purchased tickets from ArtTix and its outlets for "Show Boat" are asked to mail or bring their tickets to the central ArtTix box office at the Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84101.
Also, Theatre League of Utah subscribers who purchased their tickets directly from TLU should obtain their refunds from the league's box office.
In addition to full refunds, each ticket order will receive a special "Show Boat" gift, compliments of the show's producers. All requests for refunds must be submitted by Sept. 1.
