Alberta Reeve Richards, 91, passed away early Monday morning, July 6, 1998 of causes related to her advanced age.

Alberta, born April 20, 1907, was the eighth child in a family of nine children born to John Robert Reeve and Mae Ennis Gillette. She lived in Salt Lake, graduating from East High School and then from the University of Utah in 1929 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She married Glen Young Richards, December 20, 1929 in the Salt Lake Temple and became the mother of three daughters, Carol R. Smith (Richard); twins, Diane R. Sonntag (Walter) and Joan DeBry and one son, Robert Reeve Richards. Her family has grown to include 20 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren - one more to arrive any minute.

Mother taught elementary school for 27 years, most of those at the Riley School in Salt Lake. She loved teaching and was loved by her students. She retired from teaching in 1972.

Mother was widowed in 1970 and became the uniting influence for her family. She loved unconditionally, counseled with great wisdom, and had a wit that always brought a chuckle. We loved her dearly, and will miss her terribly.

A family service will be held April 10, 1998, following which she will be buried in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors, Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
