Our loving, gentle, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on July 4th 1998, at the age of 77.

Emerson was born July 23, 1920, in Salt Lake City to William Woodford and Clara Louise Holmes Hardy. He attended Hawthorne, Irving Jr. High and East High School. He attended the University of Utah and was also given an honorary degree from Brigham Young University. He served an LDS mission in California and Arizona. It was there in California that he met his loving wife Ora Dee Alexander. They were married November 19th 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in the Air Force where he became a navigator in World War II. He began his devoted career with Deseret Federal Savings and Loan in 1946. He retired after 39 years as its President and CEO.He loved the church and was a faithful devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many church positions. His great love, devotion and ever faithful example was shown to his family and friends everyday of his life.

He spent his life very physically active, loving basketball, softball, and most of all his greatest enjoyment was playing golf.

He is survived by his loving and eternal companion Ora Dee Hardy; two children, Bill (Carol) Hardy and Robin Aragon; six grandchildren, Jessica, Travis and Sam Hardy, Chris and Ashley Aragon, Shawn Brinkley; one great granddaughter, Sarah Frame and son-in-law, Duane Brinkley. Five brothers and sisters Clyde (Lennie) Hardy, Louise (Harry) Maurer, Douglas (Evelyn) Hardy, Kenneth (Mary) Hardy and Dorothy Winter; many nieces and nephews and also his very close friends of his California Mission Study group.

Preceded in death by two daughters Barbara Hardy (Infant) Janis Brinkley, and a grandson Nicholas Brinkley.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 9th, 1998, 11 a.m. at the Holladay 14th Ward, 4917 South Viewmont street (2325 East) . Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple and one hour prior to services. Interment: Salt Lake Memorial Mausoleum, 1001 11th ave.
