Kathryn Jane Whittamore Clark, 86, passed away on July 6, 1998 of causes incident to age.

Kay was born on September 21, 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Florence Jane Forman and John Franklin Whittemore. She attended the University of Utah where she graduated in Physical Education. In the midst of the Great Depression, on October 16, 1934, Kay eloped with William Edward Clark, Jr. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Kay loved her family and friends, gardening, fairies, dance, and teaching children to dance, beauty in all of its infinite manifestations, the mountains and her horses that took her among them. She taught modern dance in her home studio for many years. She was also a vocal and articulate advocate of wilderness preservation.

Survived by daughter, Elisa (Anderson W.) Robertson; grandchildren: Stephanie (Mark), Richard, John, Mark, Curtis, Heather, Wendy; great grandchildren: K.C., Alex, and Erin. Preceded in death by husband, Will, and daughter, Kathryn Patricia.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9, 1998, at 1 p.m., at the Valley View Ward house, (3900 South 2000 East). Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary (3251 South 2300 East) and at the Church on Thursday for one hour prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers Kay requested that donations be made to The Sierra Club, or you could plant a tree in her name.
