Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Wilma Brown Stapley, age 71, passed away peacefully from causes incident to cancer on July 3, 1998.
She was born April 16, 1927 in Bountiful, Utah to Earl Leroy Brown and Hazel Edith Shill. She married Howard Stapley on October 25, 1947 in Bountiful, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple in 1963. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions in the Bountiful 20th Ward Young Women and Relief Society. She was presently serving in the Relief Society Presidency of the Heritage Branch, a calling she greatly enjoyed. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and enjoyed supporting them in all of their activities. She was especially proud of her grandsons and their missionary service in various parts of the world. She loved to travel, camp with her family in the Uintas, do needlework, do scrapbooking, and loved to attend all University of Utah ball games.She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Howard; son, Craig (Terry); daughter, Renee' (Mike) Shegrud and eight grandchildren: Jason, Ben, Tyler and Loni Stapley; and Nathan, Erik, Andrea and Heather Shegrud; brothers: Norris Brown, Glenn Brown, and Richard Cutler; sisters: Marjorie Collins and June May. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Fern Bryden and granddaughter, Lynette Stapley.
Funeral services will be held at the Bountiful 20th Ward, 35 East 1400 South, on Tuesday, July 7th, 1998 at 1 p.m. Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Btfl., and 11:30 to 12:30 Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank all of the nurses and personnel on the 5th floor, Oncology Dept. at the University of Utah Hospital for all of their tender care and service to Wilma and her family.
