Brigham Young University's Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band will represent Utah July 13 during a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

The band was nominated by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, to perform as part of the Kennedy Center's "State Days," an event that features a variety of musicians from all 50 states. The free performance will take place on the Millenium Stage in the center's Grand Foyer.Steve Call, who founded the BYU Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band in 1985, will play the tuba and lead the band. Other participants include Kendra Lowe, Phuong Nguyen, Aimee Nolte, Amy Sanders, Nate Southerland, Todd Wilkinson and Curtis Winters.
