Don James O'Brien passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, On July 4, 1998.
He was born in Clearfield, Utah, on January 5, 1905, to Jonathan and Mary Adams O'Brien. He married Nelda Rich on October 1, 1927. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Don enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. He spent a career in the automotive field. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, enjoying many leadership positions, recently serving as a veil worker in the Salt Lake Temple.Survived by his wife of 70 years, Nelda; two children, Verl R. (Karen), and Patricia (Patrick) Preston; grandchildren, Keli Smith, Sean O'Brien, Amie Preston, Joel Preston, Devon O'Brien, Eden O'Brien; and 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill and Dan; sisters, Rachel Craig and Fonda Eastman.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 8, 12 noon, at the Colonial Hills Ward Chapel, 1455 South 1700 East, with a viewing one hour prior. There will also be a viewing on Tuesday, July 7, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
