LeRoy Charles Tripp, Jr., 75, of Gridley, California died on Tuesday, June 30, 1998 at Enloe Hospital in Chico, California, of natural causes.
He was born on June 28, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a Butte County resident for 24 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 and served in the Army-Air Corps during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He was a member of the Warren H. McCutcheon Post 5731 VFW in Gridley and ALPA-Airline Pilots Association located in Washington, DC. He was employed with Flying Tiger Line as a pilot for 25 years. He served as President of the Manzanita School Board for four years from 1980 to 1984. He was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 3rd Ward, located in Gridley. He was also a former Bishop of the San Bruno Ward from 1967 to 1970. He served on the High Council, as Stake Mission President and as a Temple ordinance worker in the Oakland Temple. He served on a mission in Missouri in 1992 with his wife, Gerry. He was an avid golfer. His hobbies included making golf clubs and woodworking. He loved working on cars, being a mechanic and fishing.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie May Thompson Tripp in 1963.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry Tripp, of Gridley, CA; his mother, Victoria Hill Tripp, of Salt Lake City, UT; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Lee and Kay Tripp, of Salt Lake City, UT; Richard (Tom) and Debra Tripp, of Gridley, CA; three daughters, Susan and Paul Bringhurst, of Orem, UT; Denise Curti, of Mountain View, CA; Vickie Tripp, of Mountain View, CA. He is also survived by four sisters, Betty Erickson, of Murray, UT; Mildred Day, of North Salt Lake City, UT; Marie Proctor, of Sandy, UT; Judy Glines, of Salt Lake City, UT; two brothers, Clifford Tripp, of Salt Lake City, UT; Robert Tripp, of West Jordan, UT; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at 10 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery with a viewing one hour prior at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortary. Interment will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy, UT.
Contributions to the American Heart Association and the Primary Childrens Hospital are suggested by the family.
