After helping an 11-year-old Kearns girl after she was hit by a car while riding on her bike, a Sandy couple decided to buy her a brand-new bicycle to replace her damaged one.
The couple, who have asked to remain anonymous, had Salt Lake County Fire Capt. Mike Ulibarri deliver the shiny pink-and-white bike to Janae Jones' home Wednesday evening. The man and his wife covered Jones with a blanket after she was thrown six to eight feet from Saturday's impact at 4460 W. 5415 South.
After the ambulance took Jones away, the man and his wife said they "just looked at each other" and decided they needed to replace Jones' bike, which was wrecked in the accident.
Jones, who was sitting on her bike as the sun set on Wednesday, said, "I just wanna tell him thank you for getting me a new bike."
