A Las Vegas, Nev., man died in a rollover Friday at 12:30 a.m. seven miles south of Nephi on I-15.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Carl Howard identified the man as Kenneth A. Mizer, 76. Howard said Mizer may have fallen asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. The victim was northbound when he lost control of the car, went off the road and overcorrected. The car traveled through the median and both southbound lanes of the freeway before halting in the emergency lane of the southbound section of freeway, Howard said.
"The vehicle rolled four to five times," Howard said. Mizer was thrown from the car as it began rolling in the median.
Highway Patrol troopers and emergency medical technicians spent more than an hour looking for a female who they feared might have been in the car and thrown from the vehicle, but were unable to find anyone else. "There were some articles in the vehicle that led us to believe there may have been a female passenger," said Howard.
