As part of a $50 million-plus appropriation for Utah military projects, the Senate has approved $4 million to help with transfer of land at Fort Douglas to the University of Utah, where it will be used for 2002 Winter Games housing.

The amount was deleted from an earlier bill by President Clinton when he used the line-item veto - a power that the Supreme Court recently declared unconstitutional. The Fort Douglas money would complete the transfer of troops there to Camp Williams.

Most of the remaining Utah funds would go to projects at Hill Air Force Base.
